A Philippines getaway vacation with the boyfriend coming up and a little bit of longing for home I was in search of a Filipino restaurant. I had done the Google search and came upon one single find in the area. The search landed me with JnJ Turo Turo in Quincy, MA. So Friday after work I threw the suggestion to Todd who joined me in this mini quest.
As we approached the restaurant our faces slowly began to take on disappointment. The place was dark with the white and red sign in the window glaring at is with their “closed” status. I couldn’t believe it, it was only 7:45pm and wasn’t due to close for at least another 15 minutes. But we parked anyway, adjusting our quest to check out the Filipino grocery store we thought we saw next door.
The shelves of this grocery store were filled with childhood nostalgia. There were treats my parents had made, treats relatives would bring back from trips to the “homeland.” I reached for my favorites and a cheesy Tagalog drama. Though we were bummed about missing the restaurant we made do with the grocery trip. In fact I was quite pleased with the grocery discovery.
It was worth while mini adventure that ended in pleasant discovery.
