#frugalfashionista: sometimes the best things are free…and flannel?

I’ve been in the sewing zone all night. I was purging samples at work and found fabric that would have been thrown away. I decided to salvage it for myself and make something with it later. Sure enough to I brought it home and whipped up and asymmetrical top. Cute?

After that I decided to pull out the fabric I bought over thanksgiving weekend and make myself a pair of flannel lady boxers with adorable reindeer on them. This the season! If you like them, they’ll be in the pinkbow store soon! Stay posted and I’ll let you know when.

#frugalfashionista: black (and white) Friday deals!

Banana republic swoops me in again. I could not pass up their amazing mix of black and white prints and textures. Not only were they on sale, they were on double sale! Sale prices plus the additonal 40% off. Even my boyfriend walked away happy with 50% off original price sweaters.

What fashions did you guys find this Black Friday?

#frugalfashionista: show me the sample sale!!!

One of my favorite benefits as a fashion designer is that time of year when sample sale hits. That wonderful time when our corporate closets are too full of inspirational and production samples that we need to purge them. Thus they end up in the glorious sample sale for all to purchase for their own closets at a fraction of the cost. Severe savings!

Corporate employees had the advantage of pre-shopping the sale, and boy did I have a ball with that. I reached for some fall wardrobe updates and spent only $40 in round 1. Round 2 I brought my mom for when the sale was open to the public. What did I scoop up? 5 pairs of various flats, a cloche, jewelry, and some beautiful gifting items!

I left that sale feeling accomplished and spent no more than $200 on everything. What a treat! What a great new fall wardrobe too!

Shopping Justice sample sales were fun, but I’d have to say shopping the talbots sample sale was even better because I could actually shop for me this time around. And the quality 👌🏻

#frugalfashionista : toaster coaster

This is what happens when you’re told to wait 20 mins for your photo to develop and you need to kill time. You usually end up buying things just to buy them. Pointless to go home and come back, so go ahead and kill time. I peered around the old holiday leftover products and noticed this “beverage warmer” in the stocking stuffers section of walgreens pharmacy. I picked up the package and turned it over in my hands as I debated it’s utility.

My boyfriend and I are avid coffee drinkers. We are constantly popping in k cups at home and for the office. However, if you are a coffee drinker you know that every so often your cup sits for a while and when you finally go back to drink it, it’s suddenly cold, especially when you’re almost done with it. What a perfect solution this could be, and why not, a cute goofy extra to give to my boyfriend since he’s constantly walking to the microwave to reheat his cup.

When the cashier rang me out what I thought would be $5 actually came out to $1.50, after Christmas sale! So I went back and bought myself one for the office.

Guess the kill time was worth it after all. Should save my boyfriend and I several trips to the microwave! An electric coaster that keeps drinks toastier.

Stay toasty!

#frugalfashionista : new years 2015

I’m not usually a Banana Republic shopper, that would be my boyfriend. On the way back from a Broncos game we came across a mall and stopped in the BR. They had a petites section and I stumbled across this jumpsuit. I never have luck with those but I decided to try it on anyway. It was on sale with an extra discount….and what do you know it fit perfectly! What a fun perfect alternative this would make for a dress on New Years eve.

For xmas I recieved a gift card to H&M. I already knew what I wanted to pair with this jumpsuit so I took my gift card in search of a faux fur jacket. After christmas sales are always set up for lucky finds. I came across this faux “sheep” coat, had my size, perfect price, and it matched well with my jumpsuit.

BAM, new years outfit success in just under $50! I already have the necklace, shoes, and belt.

Happy New Years Fashionistas! Stay Fabulous and Frugal 🙂

MUCH LOVE – MA
